Cloudland at McLemore Resort

OVERVIEW

Perched atop iconic Lookout Mountain in Rising Fawn, Georgia, Cloudland is the Southeast’s premier mountain resort destination. A member of the Curio Collection by Hilton, its amenities are unrivaled in the region. With 245 guest rooms, including 21 suites, and over 20,000 square feet of state-of-the-art meeting and event space, Cloudland provides an inspired retreat for couples, families, and groups. The resort’s unique location highlights the unspoiled simplicity of nature. Just steps from the cliff's edge, it creates a surreal feeling of escape while remaining only a few hours’ drive or a direct flight for most visitors. Guests enjoy a range of amenities, including four restaurants and a café, access to two masterfully designed courses — The Highlands, The Keep, a 6-hole short course called The Cairn — a full-service spa, and endless outdoor recreational opportunities to explore Lookout Mountain and the surrounding state and national parks..

HISTORY

In 1928, the first luxury hotel was built on Lookout Mountain in Dade County. The building was referred to as the ‘castle in the clouds’ and according to some, was the hotel where Elizabeth Taylor and fourth husband Eddie Fischer honeymooned (in room 541).  Locals have various recollections and the former hotel is now home to Covenant College. Cloudland’s opening makes it the first luxury hotel to open on Lookout Mountain since the Great Depression and the only mountaintop luxury hotel in the state of Georgia.

Auld Alliance: Inspired by the spirit of McLemore’s Scottish heritage, the Auld Alliance is the first Scottish/French fine dining restaurant in the country. The experience at Auld Alliance goes beyond exquisite cuisine. It's an invitation to immerse yourself in a world where tradition meets innovation, where every dish tells a story of heritage and culinary craftsmanship. Whether you're sipping on a dram of fine Scotch whisky, sharing the perfect bottle of wine from our extensive wine list, or relishing the delicate flavors of perfectly executed dishes using all locally farmed and foraged produce, every moment at Auld Alliance is infused with warmth and sophistication.

Croft: Named for the small farms sprinkled across Scotland’s landscape, Croft focuses on simple, fresh ingredients. Designed with a high-country picnic top of mind, Croft is rooted in American fare with a twist.

The Pocket Café: Enjoy a cozy respite or refreshing pick-me-up before starting your day or next adventure. The Pocket is a charming coffee shop that welcomes guests with the comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee and fresh-baked pastries every morning.  In the afternoon and evening, grab drinks and snacks while taking in the spectacular views.

Skyside: Escape to a world above the clouds at Skyside, a poolside oasis with panoramic mountain views. Sip handcrafted cocktails overlooking stunning scenery and socialize in a stylish open-air lounge. Open seasonally and available to resort guests and members only.

The Creag: Drawing inspiration from both the area’s Scottish heritage and the rugged, natural landscape, the Creag serves craft cocktails and the finest spirits and wines from around the world, along with a seasonal dining menu inspired by the local farms and foragers in the area. The Creag is located inside the McLemore Clubhouse, a short golf cart ride from the hotel.

At McLemore Resort, guests can play two world-class golf courses nestled amidst the picturesque beauty of the surrounding landscape. Designed by renowned architects, Bill Bergin and Rees Jones, the courses will challenge your golf game while leaving you captivated by the natural beauty.

The Highlands - 18 Hole Mountaintop Course: Perched 2,300 feet above sea level, this top 100-ranked, dramatic cliff-edge par 71 course was designed by acclaimed course architects Rees Jones and Bill Bergin. The 7,055 yard championship layout features a stunning variety of strategic holes and breathtaking vistas. This award-winning course is a golfing experience above the rest. 

The Keep - New 18 Hole Course Now in Preview Play: Situated on the eastern cliff edge of Lookout Mountain, The Keep is designed as a walkable mountaintop golf experience. Laid out by legendary architects Bill Bergin and Rees Jones, Jones commented during the 2021 U.S. Open that The Keep, “could host a major.” The Keep is sure to be one of the most scenic and enjoyable courses to play in the country.

The Cairn - 6 Hole Short Course: The Cairn Short Course is one of the several jewels in the crown of McLemore. Designed by Bill Bergin, The Cairn rests on the north side of the Clubhouse and overlooks the dramatic and award-winning 18th hole on the Highlands Course. This is a fun outing for the family or for tuning up your short game.

SELAH SPA & FITNESS

Selah encourages our guests to pause, take a deep breath, rest, and regenerate energies. An occasion for reflection and a reset that engages the mind, body, and soul. Selah’s wellness experiences cannot be defined by expert treatments alone, but also by the sensory journey of relaxation and our hydrotherapy lounges. From the moment you arrive and are guided from our spa entrance to the changing room, you will have an opportunity to quiet the mind, find calm, peace, and self-nurturing serenity, and enjoy the immersive experience.
